House tax bill passes without local tax options

True thanks the Cook County News Herald for letting us know that our local tax "options" were not approved by the Minnesota House.
True also thanks some kind providence that perhaps favors the poor.

I already told you, the Pols at the State have their minds set on getting in some more sale tax revenue themselves. If they hand these taxes to the local governments it will be that much unpalatable when they come up with their own increase.

Anonymous, I hope you are wrong about more sales tax at the state level. With a proposed 10 cent per gallon gas tax and my sources saying the cost of gas will reach $5 per gallon before summer is over, the old budget is getting stretched mighty thin.
But my sources also say that Sen. Bakk may come through and we will get to pay our local sales taxes as well, when the House and Senate hash things out. I really like the House idea that the state should provide tax relief for most of us while increasing income tax on the very richest.
Thanks for writing.
